Frequently asked questions
We hope this page may answer some of the questions you're most likely to have. When we meet with you we can chat through any questions in more detail or answer any others you might have.
Where do you provide home care services?
We currently provide home care services in Chiswick, Acton, Brentford, Ealing, Kew, Gunnersbury, Richmond, and Sheen. If you live outside of these areas but are interested in home help, then please still contact us as we may still be able to help.
How bespoke is your home care?
Very! Our care is built entirely around the support you need. Whether that's multiple visits a day, one visit a day, one visit a week or many visits a week.
The length of your visit and what is done on each visit can also be different from one day to another day. So if you need us for 2 hours one day but then a short 30 minute visit another day, that's absolutely fine.
When we first meet you we can talk through exactly what you need to live a good life, your way!
Who are your Care Team?
We use a valued based interview process and actively recruit people that create a diverse team with complimentary skills, knowledge and experience. This helps staff to support each other well and provides a better service to you.
Our Personal Care Assistants (we call them Angels) go through a rigorous selection process, come with Enhanced DBS Certificates, have completed the mandatory training for care providers, successfully passed an induction period and are fully insured.
All of our Angels are supported, and supervised by our Registered Manager, Pip Lacey, and our coach, Ali Rice. Team members receive regular appraisals and ongoing training to ensure the highest quality of care.
It's really important us to us that we recognise the amazing skills and hard work of our team members, that's why all our Angels are paid a competitive rate to ensure a Good Life for all.
Will I always see the same friendly face?
Our care is the opposite of a visit where the aim is to complete a tick list - our aim is to build strong relationships with you and to focus on promoting independence and a ‘good life. By taking time to get to know you, we can discover what a good life means to you and create goals which work towards building this together.
You'll have a primary Angel who you will see most of the time but if they're away due to illness or holiday, we’ll offer another friendly face with whom you will already be familiar.
Will my Angel know the local area?
Our Angels know the local area well as they'll live not far from you. They visit the same shops, the chemist and know the people and places in your community.
Our teams aim to communicate well and work collaboratively with the GPs, Community Nursing Teams and other health professionals in your area to hopefully increase the support available and reduce any potential stress.
How easy is it to change what I need?
With small local teams, we are able to adapt quickly to changes you might like to make, so just let us know as soon as you think there might need to be a change.
For some changes we need more notice than others, but all of this information will be made available to you.
What if I have any concerns or complaints?
We actively encourage compliments, concerns and complaints so we can use this information to improve our service and learn. We will provide you with all of the contact details for both our care team, office team and out of office team so that you can always reach us.
How much do you charge?
We pride ourselves on keeping our pricing really simple and transparent. We charge £35 per hour and have a mileage charge of 45 pence per mile for outings and appointments.
You will be invoiced fortnightly in arrears and payment is due within 7 calendar days.
I'm really interested in being supported by A Good Life, what are the next steps?
We're waiting to hear from you! Call Pip on 07866 557020, email us at pip@agoodlife.uk or complete our contact form.
We'll then arrange a visit to see you so that we can talk about the support you need to live a good life.
We will give you a draft copy of our Service User Contract and Handbook so that you have all the information you need before you make a decision.
Once you're happy with everything and have no further questions, and have returned a signed contract, our Angels can start to visit.
I'd like to know more about working with A Good Life, what should I do?
Our teams are self-organising, innovative and creative and have both freedom and responsibility, enabling them to provide a good life for their clients, whatever that means to them. Angels should live locally so that clients can be reached on foot or by bike wherever possible.
Our Angels are paid a competitive rate to ensure a good life for all and although experience is preferred, full training will be given for people that share our values and want to commit to our purpose, vision and values.
We're currently recruiting for Angels to join our teams in Chiswick, Acton, Brentford, Ealing, Kew, Gunnersbury, Richmond and Sheen. If you're self-employed and are interested in working with us, please send your cv to pip@agoodlife.uk.
If you live outside of these areas, it's still worth getting in touch with us. We will be creating new teams in different locations and can keep your details on a waiting list until we're supporting clients in your area.
